Application Instructions

• Apply Blue Steel Primer to clean steel and well-weathered galvanized steel, ensuring removal of loose surface rust, mill scale, and weld splatter.
• Allow an 8-hour drying time before applying water-based coatings and a minimum of 24 hours for solvent-based products.
• Prior to overcoating, remove any salts or contaminants accumulated during the waiting period.
• Ensure application occurs within optimal environmental conditions, with air and surface temperatures between 5°C/41°F and 30°C/86°F, and relative humidity below 90%.
• Apply a single thin and even coat of Blue Steel Primer to rusted surfaces; successful rust conversion is indicated by a color change in the treated steel.
• When sand or grit blasting isn’t feasible due to cost, accessibility, or environmental concerns, Blue Steel Primer serves as both a rust converter and primer for rusted steel surfaces.
